Daniel is being prepped for surgery right now and will be taken to the operating room in about 10 minutes.
The surgeons will attempt to drain the bile and fluids laparoscopically (using a small incision which is much less invasive) and insert a tube to drain the bile. At the same time, they will insert another tube in Daniel's chest cavity to relieve the pressure that is building up around his lungs.
If laparoscopy is unsuccessful, the surgeons will open Daniel's abdomen. If that occurs, the trauma team will move Daniel back to the surgical ICU and put him back on a ventilator.
We know everyone is praying for Daniel. He needs it right now. Aubrey told me Mendy's brother called from Florida and the family there is also fasting for Daniel. All of your faith and prayers continue to be so greatly appreciated.
At least one of us will be at the hospital with Aubrey and Mendy while Daniel is having surgery and we will give you a post surgery update as soon as the doctor reports to the family.
PS.... Mendy just called to invite any family or friends who are able to join in the family fast for Daniel.
