Good news! Daniel, or "T Bob" as he is now affectionately known among the editorial staff, has improved enough to be moved to the IMCU -- Intermediate Intensive Care Unit. For those of you who live close enough to visit, the IMCU is located on the Fifth Floor of the University of Utah Hospital. Daniel is in room 15. The same rules apply. No one is allowed to visit Daniel's room unless accompanied by Aubrey or Mendy. There is a waiting room outside the IMCU where friends and family members can visit.
Daniel is being given morphine now, but is still in a lot of pain. He can now feel all of the areas of his body that were injured -- especially his stomach area where the internal damage is the worst. Tomorrow the doctors will test liver enzymes to assess the damage to Daniel's liver. Elbow surgery is also scheduled for tomorrow. The bones connected to Daniel's elbow were "exposed" (we think that is a less gruesome term the doctors use for "poking through the skin") as a result of the accident and the cartilage was torn out. The doctors will install hardware to get the new titanium Daniel working properly again.
We understand Daniel now has a great view of the Salt Lake valley out the window of his new room. As soon as he is able to turn his head, he will be able to see it. In the interim, we will send our photo crew to Daniel's new accommodations so those of you who are checking his progress from far away can feel a little closer.

ReplyDeleteDaniel,
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that there is this blog. We can now give g-ma's cell phone a break and get the low down this way.
I was pretty upset to hear about you, (I was in a Relief Society meeting when I got a call from my mom.) We prayed for you at closing and it was a beautiful prayer.
I look forward to hearing about your progress, even if it's baby steps. Just keep steppin'!
Love and Prayers to you and all you love.
